Colors of hydrogen
Green hydrogen is the only one free of carbon and will be key to climate neutrality
The classification of hydrogen is based on its methods of obtaining:
H2 Gray / Black Refurbished
Hydrogen obtained from natural gas by methane reforming
H2 Gray / Black Refurbished
Hydrogen produced from fossil fuels usually by gasification
H2 Turquoise / Pyrolysis
Hydrogen produced by methane pyrolysis. Instead of CO2, you get coal
H2 Blue / Reformed or gasified
Gray or brown hydrogen, but CO2 is captured and stored or can be used in other industrial processes
H2 Pink / Purple / Red / Electrolysis
Hydrogen produced by electrolysis using nuclear energy
H2 Yellow / Electrolysis
Hydrogen produced by electrolysis using electricity from the grid
H2 Green / Electrolysis
Hydrogen produced by electrolysis of water using renewable sources such as hydraulic, wind or solar
H2 White / Byproduct in industrial processes
Hydrogen obtained as a by-product in industrial processes
